How we work

The ERA of RCB philosophy is that the members are our strength. It is the volunteer members of village hall and community building management committees that have knowledge and experience of the day to day operating procedures for these Vital Village Venues. As such it is the volunteer members that are best placed to support new volunteers and new/neighbouring halls.

ERA of RCB is the conduit for sharing that knowledge, experience and support through the provision of this website, meetings and peer review of hall (Hall Mark).

To support volunteers and add to their knowledge, ERA of RCB draws in the expertise and advice of others as legislation and regulation changes. This is achieved by working in partnership with a wide range of other organisations including East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Humber and Wolds Rural Community Council, East riding Voluntary Action Services, North Bank Forum, Action for Communities in Rural England, Cabinet Office, Department of Food Farming and Rural Affairs and others

The ERA of RCB management Committee also consults with members on a regular basis in order to act as advocate and lobby regulators on behalf of member halls. This is achieved through collective responses to public consultations, meetings with key decision makers, reports, research and letters to those in authority.

Last but not least the ERA of RCB approach is to celebrate the magnificent work carried out by all of the  volunteers involved in ensuring the these Vital village Venues remain community assets. So please keep us informed of your achievements so that we can help you publicise them
